As we’re getting closer and closer to Christmas, it is only apt that I share some gift ideas with you all. I have come across some amazing small, UK businesses that I would love to share with my readers, therefore each of the guides will have an emphasis on shopping small this Christmas and supporting those smaller shops. This is the third blog post in the Christmas Gift Guide series, and is a Gift Guide for Newborns.
1. Zip Up Sleepsuit
ZippyUp have created the ultimate ‘dad-proof’ sleep suit for newborns, that feature a simple two way zip rather than poppers. These are warm, 100% cotton, comfortable and practical additions to a babies wardrobe, one that would make a lovely gift for any new parent.
This ZippyUp sleep suit, along with others can be found at ZippyUp.
2. Pineapple Print
Do you know someone who hasn’t announced the gender and won’t until you see the baby? Although a lovely idea, that can make gifts rather difficult. This pineapple nursery print offers an alternative to clothing for newborns, and is a safe bet as prints can be simple ways to decorate a nursery or bedroom.
This pineapple print, and other prints can be found at MamaDesigns.
3. Bear Dungarees
I don’t think I can do a gift guide without having clothes mentioned at least once! BornHygge have some lovely pieces in, and because it’s an independent store, it is unlikely that the parents will have received the same clothes from someone else as a gift!
These dungarees, along with other clothing can be found at BornHygge.
4. Baby Milestone Cards
Nested Fox have created a pack of 50 gender neutral baby milestone cards. They are unique in their design, in that there is space on the reverse of each card to write about that milestone. As well as this, under the cards, in the box itself there’s another unique addition to the pack; a space to write your child’s name, date of birth, weight and where they were born. This is such a lovely extra that I’ve not seen in other baby milestone card packs and is a lovely idea as it makes it something you can keep and give to your little ones when they are older.
These baby milestone cards can be found at NestedFox.
5. Pink Noise Whisbear Sleeping Aid
Not getting enough sleep is expected with a newborn, however there are products to make getting the baby off to sleep that little bit easier. The Whisbear is a sleeping aid that plays a soft, pink noise for 40 minutes when turned on, and then is able to react to a baby cry and play for another 20 minutes to help soothe the baby back to sleep. It has magnetic paws that make it easy (and safe) to attach to the cot or other product to be near the baby. It can also be used as a sensory toy! This is completely safe to use from birth, and is a gift that parents will continuously thank you for, for making bed time that little bit easier!
This sleeping aid, along with others, can be found at Whisbear.
6. Pineapple Muslin Squares
If you’ve read my blog post ‘Top Tips for New Mums‘ then you’ll know how much I recommend having plenty of muslin squares. They are handy for just about everything, and you can never have enough! These pineapple black and white muslin squares are double layered, super soft and 100% cotton.
These muslin squares, along with other products, can be found at MamaDesigns.
7. Black and White Baby Sensory Cards
These are a great gift if you’re looking for that something different that you know the new parents probably haven’t picked up already for their new baby. These are a practical, yet very useful and appreciated gift as babies can only see black and white to start and this really helps their development. The pack comes with seven reversible black and white images, so technically fourteen different pictures.
These sensory cards can be found at Bebedoubaby.
